Madame Butterfly

Hua Hua has been chosen to create and perform two puppet versions of the character Cio Cio San for Opera Philadelphia‘s upcoming production of Puccini’s “Madame Butterfly.” These doll-sized and person-sized versions will both be featured during the show alongside Karen Chia-ling Ho’s vocal performance of the role.

In advance of the show, Opera Philadelphia’s media team took some beautiful photos and video, and interviewed Hua Hua about her creative process and what the story of Madame Butterfly means to her.
